PACKAGING TYPE, TIME AND INDOL-BUTIRIC ACID IN THE JABUTICABA FRUI TREE [Plinia cauliflora (DC.) KAUSEL] PROPAGATION BY AIR LAYERING

The air layering has proven the most promising method for asexual propagation of jabuticaba fruit tree. However, some details of technical must be enhanced for increasingthe results. The aim of this study was to evaluate the best time, the indol butiric acid (IBA)concentration and packaging type for air layering propagation in Açú jabuticaba fruit tree [Plinia cauliflora(DC.)KAUSEL]. The research was carried out at UTFPR - Câmpus Dois Vizinhos, State of Paraná, Brazil, in December 2011and, April, June and September 2012. It was used in the cambial region IBA in 0, 2000 and 4000 mg L-1 concentrations. After IBA application, the exposed area was involved with Plantmax® commercial substrateand coated with transparent plastic packaging, transparent plastic packaging coated with aluminum foil orblack plastic packaging. The experimental design was blocks completely randomized, in factorial 4 x 3 x 3(time x IBA concentration x packaging type), with 4 replications of five branches by plot. After 180days of the beginning of each experiment the callus and root percentages, roots number and the three root higher length were evaluated. The root percentage was 20.04% for April. The transparent plastic packaging coated with aluminum foil was superior than the other packaging, it was possible to obtain root percentageof 8.69%. The IBA concentrations did not influence the branches adventitious root formation.
