Evaluation of the current administration's activities and presentation of the new editors of the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy

EDITORIAL

Another accomplished goal was the inclusion of specialist editors in the Journal team. They are researchers with recognized scientific competence in different fields of knowledge who improved the time efficiency and initial evaluation of the submitted manuscripts. Their work, together with the contribution of the editorial board members and ad hoc assistants, was fundamental to the success of the BJPT.

We also sought to professionalize the administrative activities of the BJPT. This was only possible due to our excellent team of employees, who have dedicated themselves to the constant technical development required by these activities. In addition, the entire graphic design production has been outsourced to a specialized company, resulting in better quality print and in the creation of a new layout and website.

We could not forget to mention and express our appreciation for the huge support of the researchers, who were essential for the BJPT to reach its goals and who believed in the Journal by submitting their scientific papers. The financial support from CREFITO-3, UNINOVE, CNPq, FAPESP and FAPEMIG was also crucial for the development of our activities. The universities UFSCar and UFMG are partners and have provided physical infrastructure and permanent support. The Brazilian Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Physical Therapy (ABRAPG-Ft) had an essential role as a legal institution that supported the Journal, contributing with editors in numerous actions.

We believe that our contribution to the BJPT was relevant and that the proposed goals were accomplished. We also judged that it was time for other colleagues to acquire experience as editors of a scientific journal, expanding the ability of researchers to perform this important academic and scientific work.

In an Editorial Board meeting held in November, we proposed the nomination of new editors for the BJPT, and there were many expressions of support to the nominees, who are CNPq researchers with recognized academic and scientific competence in different areas of knowledge areas and who have contributed continuously to the Journal since the beginning of its activities.

As of 2010, Professors Débora B. Grossi, PhD (FMRP-USP), Aparecida M. Catai, PhD (UFSCar) and Marisa C. Mancini, PhD (UFMG) will be heading the BJPT with new challenges. We are fully confident that the Journal will be in good hands over the next years.

It has been an honor to head the Journal during these past years and we wish success to the new team of editors.

  • Evaluation of the current administration's activities and presentation of the new editors of the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy

Our work as editors of the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy (BJPT) has been a major challenge. Perhaps the hardest task was to continue the excellent work of the previous administration conducted by Prof. Helenice J. C. Gil Coury, which resulted in the indexing of the BJPT by SciELO. From this point, the first goal was to expand the international incorporation of the Journal. During our administration, the BJPT was indexed by CINAHL, Periodica, SCOPUS, EMCare, SciSearch, and ISI/JCR. We also implemented a series of modifications to meet the criteria required by MEDLINE before submitting the Journal in 2009 and will receive its decision in February 2010.
