The book as an artifact of the culture of school supplies and as an element of professionalization of teaching

Abstract:

To analyze the book A lei biogenetica e a escola activa from 1929 as an artifact of the school supplies culture and as an element of professionalization of teaching is the objective of the current study. For such, it will be treated from the process that precedes its existence in the Brazilian educational scenery, to its presence in the collection of the Biblioteca de Educação da Companhia Melhoramentos/SP. The negotiation for the translation and publishing in the Portuguese language will be investigated from the letters exchanged between its author, the swiss Adolphe Ferrière, and the educator Lourenço Filho, in an historical reflection about the relevance of the book in the organization of the education in Brazil by observing the complexity of a cultural product that surpassed border barriers as well as linguistic barriers, enabling the circulation of knowledge.
