The misconception as a black death, or how to “naturalize” racialized bullets

Abstract

The presented article intends to accomplish an initial reflection about genocide of the black population with focus on what we will call “murder by misconception”. Vargas (2010) and Almeida (2015) who generally work with the United Nations (UN) conception that places genocide as the physical and/or cultural destruction of part or all of an ethnic group/racial support the concept of genocide in this text. The murders we are dealing with are black residents of Rio de Janeiro and the metropolitan region murdered by “mistake” by state agents. The collection of these cases occurred by electronic media. We work with reports scope to draw a discussion between State Violence Racism and the “naturalization” of genocide. Finally, we realize that the murders by “misconception” has become a crescent and has demonstrated the “naturalization” of the black death justified by the criminalization of this population.
