This article arouses an initial discussion over the importance of prayers in the mourning rituals, specially on how sacred words can be transformed from their primary meaning to important instruments in the postmortem rituals. In that way, the article presents some detailed explanation about the Jewish mourning ritual and prayers specially related to the use and meanings of the central prayer the Kaddish.
