A dupla linguagem do desejo na Igreja Evangélica Bola de Neve

The present article is the result of a Master's thesis that studied the sexuality representations of single youths, members of the Bola de Neve (Snowball) Evangelical Church. The interest of this neo-pentecostal denomination in moralizing the sexual behavior of the faithful is evident. Its priests dedicate themselves to sexuality control and preach virginity and marriage, considered christian principles par excellence. The data analysis revealed that the faithful represent desire as sin and pathology, trying to interdict it according to the moral imperative of the ecclesiastical institution. However, desire repression paradoxically coexists with the liberation of bodies, which are displayed to be seen, admired and desired. In this religious congregation, libido is simultaneously restrained and stimulated.
