A vanguarda pop de Damiano Cozzella: hibridação cultural e a composição como ato crítico

This text aims to demonstrate Damiano Cozzella’s transit between high and low culture strata and how it is reflected in his compositions. To achieve this goal, we will present a partial view of his musical career, followed by the analysis of two works and a sketch to demonstrate how Cozzella assumed compositional practice as a critical act. Based on the concept of “hybridization” proposed by Néstor García Canclini (2019), we conclude that Cozzella was a musician who produced hybridization between cultural strata through his creative practice and from an emic perspective.
