Open-access How do textbooks in Human and Applied Social Sciences address Fake News? An analysis of collections from the PNLD 2021

This article discusses the presence of fake news in Humanities and Applied Social Sciences (CHSA) textbooks approved in the PNLD-2021, with a focus on the most popular collections in Brazilian public schools, Multiversos and Moderna Plus. In an exploratory, descriptive and infometric approach, we used the Voyant Tools program to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the number of occurrences, the context and the correlations between the terms related to the theme. The results show that the theme is present in both collections, with a strong correlation between news and fake news. There is a proximity of the theme to the areas of Sociology and Philosophy, but with rare mentions of scientific production with a conceptual approach, which has an effect on an in-depth understanding of the theme in Brazilian secondary education.
