The paper presents the results of a workers’ inquiry carried out in 2021. The inquiry explores the profile, participation and union representation of 359 workers represented by the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Metalúrgicos de Canoas e Nova Santa Rita (STIMMMEC) in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre (RS). The text presents the main descriptive statistics of the sample (mainly male workforce, older workforce, employed in production tasks under the CLT contracting regime) and explores union membership through a multiple correspondence analysis. The aim of the multiple correspondence analysis is to explore the multiple associations between workers’ profile, membership and union representation.
