Abstract
In this article, we intend to follow the course of the idea of ‘LGBT rights‘ in the UN, understood as human rights related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Our argument is that these rights are used by political actors as ‘moral rights’, and the UN has given an important contribution to establish them in the international framework. We assume that, precisely because such rights are not established in international law, actions and reactions in the debate about ‘LGBT rights’ occur in the fissures of this framework. In this article, we highlight these fissures and discuss how they have been explored by political actors. The analyzed data was collected through document and bibliographic research.
