Land cover dynamics in geomorphological units of Distrito Federal, DF

ABSTRACT

This work aimed to evaluate the land cover dynamic of the Federal District territory within geomorphological domains. There were followed three steps: i) mapping of relief units, an on-screen scanning classification method was used from SRTM project data; ii) Multitemporal mapping of land cover, a semi-automated classification method was used with TM and OLI sensors on board the Landsat 5 and 8 satellites, between 1985 and 2015; iii) relief-land cover relationship, quantification of the coverage data within geomorphological units. The Chapada and Rampa de Colúvio have presented land cover patterns associated to multiple uses, mainly for urban and agricultural development. The Ambiente Colinoso and Vale, have evidenced higher natural vegetation cover. The results evidenced that the land cover dynamics in the Federal District have been conditionate by the geomorphological domains. This conclusion should be used to subsidize public policies to the implementation of functional territorial planning and natural resources management.
