The necessary interface among nursing, health education, and the concept of culture

The concept of culture has been evoked in the development of education in health care, but has not been explored in depth by authors from so-called popular education nor by health care professionals in general. This article outlines a theoretical reflection of this concept in the practice of health education and in the practice of nursing care. This article reviews its evolution, mainly with the focus on the symbolic interpretative anthropological reference. Thus, there is an approximation from the elements contained in the different definitions of the term, as with the germinal ideas on culture pointed out by the Freirean referential structure.
