This paper discusses the current relationship between the university and knowledge. It analyzes the association of research and education and considers that the articulation of education with research constitutes an essential component to stimulate changes in the teaching and learning attitudes traditionally developed in the university context. This work also focuses on the need for actual experiences in teaching through research in the Library and Information Science studies.
