Duas décadas de conjuntura econômica, de (des) emprego industrial e de inserção dos profissionais da informação no mercado de trabalho

The purpose of this paper is to present an empirical evidence about the behaviour of the Information Workers 'labor market in the manufacture and the other sectors of Brazilian economy. The article is divided into two parts. It begins with a retrospective analysis of Brazilian economic conjuncture over the last decades, pointing out the role of the government in the economic and industrial improvement of the country, and discussing the effects of the economic conjuncture over employment, specially in the manufacture sector. In the second part, it is analyzed the demandfor Information workers, the level of revenue and then insertion in Brazilian labor market, according to the data from national household surveys. The main idea in the article is to show that even Knowledge workers have found barriers to get or keep their jobs in a context characterized by low economic growth rates and the external vulnerability of Brazilian economy.
