“THE STUDY IS WITH YOU, THE TRIP IS WITH THE PEOPLE”: TOURISM AGENCIES SPECIALIZED ON TRAVEL TO PUBLIC COMPETITIONS IN BRAZIL

Abstract:

This study aims to understand the profile of tourism agencies specializing in travel to take part in public entrance examinations for jobs in the civil service - known as concursos - in Brazil, studying how they are organized and identifying the specific products and/or services offered to meet the needs of these travelers - concurseiros. The procedures used, through a qualitative and quantitative approach and from an exploratory perspective, were established based on bibliographic, document and field research. In the cybernetic ambience of the social network Facebook, biased by an approach to netnographic research, investigations, observations and tracking of interactions, posts and testimonials from Internet study groups for consursos were carried out. These were added to by informal chats and screen shots. Questionnaires were also applied to five companies in five different regions of Brazil specialized in organizing trips to take part in consursos. The results showed that the type of tourism investigated takes the form of business models managed by small businesses, as well as traditional companies, who spotted the growing demand and saw an opportunity for economic gain. These are small and medium-sized companies that plan, cooperate among themselves, and market their products and services.
