SUMMARY

This paper reports the results obtained with the use of a mixture of = isopropyl-N-phenyl-carbamate and =isopropyl (N-3 Chlorophenyl) carbamate to inhibit sprouting of potato tubers to be used for food. Treated and untreated tubers of the Konsuragis variety and of 20 IAC clones (bred in the Instituto Agronômico, Campinas) were stored during 160 days. In most of the treated lots, the attack by rots was more frequent but the losses by dehidration and respiration were inferior to those of the untreated ones. At the end of the test the treated tubers were well turgid and had no sprouts, what is more than a compensation for the above mentioned disadvantage.
