This important work catalogs an entire subfamily of curculionid beetles containing 1.316 species. The last catalogue of this subfamily was published in 1930.

The book is organized in several parts. The introduction includes generalities about the subfamily and some comments of the previous literature. In a historical outline, from Fabricius (1775) to 2003, the main papers dealing with the group are discussed.

In the third part, the author describes the structure of the Catalogue and using the tribes, genera and species, according to the traditional taxonomic arrangement, with only a few original modifications. In this section, it is listed the 11 Tribes and the 67 genera, in alphabetic order, with the number of species, totalizing 1.316 living species, and 15 fossil taxa, in 3 genera. This section also includes a list of associated host plants.

In the Taxonomic Remarks, a new Tribe is described and a list of new placements, new synonymies, changed combinations, changes of rank, revised status, selections of multiple original spellings, and etymology of new genera are made. Designations of 2 neotypes and 2 lectotypes are also proposed.

A key to the world genera and tribes is provided, using the most evident morphological characters.

The catalogue itself includes for each taxa, the synonyms, the relevant bibliography, the geographical distribution and the species of host plants. All synonyms are included under a valid name by year of publication and the known distribution of each species is given.

A bibliography including 1081 references is provided.

The Catalogue of Ceutorhynchinae of the World is a very well produced contribution and it will surely be required by the libraries and the specialists of Curculionidae.
