We thank the authors Abbade LPE and Miot HA for their pertinent comments about our article. We would like to point out that the main purpose of the article was to evaluate the microbiota of ulcers in lower limbs of patients with Hansen's disease (sources of contamination and possibly infection), and not indicate that all have to be treated as a result of bacterial isolates, without the due clinical consideration. We agree that the use of antibiotics in certain events will not be preceded by laboratory evaluation, in a great number of occasions. Nevertheless, the regional microepidemiological analysis seems of interest to us, as new strains may be emerging, among them CA-MRSA (Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Divulging these findings seems to be useful, particularly in contexts where knowledge of the local microbiological profile may help in making in empirical option decision regarding the antibiotic to be used.
