This paper presents the results for density, static bending, Janka hardness, compression strenght parallel to the grain and compression perpendicular to the grain of six amazo-nian woods coming from Balbina's Hydroelectric power-station area - Presidente Figueiredo City council - AM, with the aim of classify them for use as bridges, railroad ties, trucks e pillars. The species were: gitó (Guarea trichilioides), louro-chumbo (Licaria canela), cumarurana (Dypteryx pollyphylla), louro-aritu (Licaria aritu), macucu-fofo (Licania oblongifolia) and melancieira (Alexa grandiflora). Melancieira was the only one which didn't show an appropriate qualification to be used.
