A influência de dois tipos de consórcios de fruteiras na incidência de broca do tronco (Cratosomus sp) na graviola (Annona muricata L.) (*)

The main objective of this work was to study the incidence and intensity of attack of the pest "Broca do Tronco" (Cratosomus sp.) in graviola (custard apple) (Annona muricata L.) in two types of cultivation systems. The study was carried out in the area of the project "Mixed Cultivation Systems of Fruits Trees", based at the Tropical Silvivulture Experimental Station of the National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA) at Km 41 on the highway BR-114 in the Municipality of Monaus. Six fruit species were used: graviola (Annona muricata L.), coconut (Cocos nucifera L.), pupunha (peach palm) (Bactris gasipaes H.B.K.), cashew (Anacardium ocidentale. L.), biribá (Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill.) and mapati (Pourouma cecropiaefolia Mart.). The mixed cultivation systems used were: simple, consisting of six species with 16 trees of each in each subplot, and mixed, in which the six species were planted alternately wich using mapati to separate each one. The latter system contained the following number of trees: 8 gra violas, 8 biribas, 8 cashews, 14 coconut, trees, 14 peach palms and 98 mapatis. The alignment employed was nandom blocks with 20 repetitions,. The degnee of infestation by insect Cratosomus and the numben of tnees attacked in each type of mixed cultivation wene evaluated. A tn.ee was cenbidexed attacked only if the infestation wab active; old attacks m e not included. The data wexe collected fnem June 1979 to July 1980. Although the hypothesis that tnees in mixed cultivation would suffen. less attack was rejected, it was observed that attack incidence on gnaviola trees in hetenogeneous plots was high in the first years of cultivation. More detailed studies of the biological cycles of Cratosomus in diffenent cultivation systems one necessary to supply mole secune recommendations about which types of cultivation are most economically viable.
