Conversão química de madeiras da amazônia - Carvão e briquetes de carvão vegetal

This paper is about the quality of the charcoal made of woods from the "Distrito Agropecuário of Suframa", as well as the briquete manufactured from this charcoal, which has tapioca as an adesive.

Shown, in the first place. Are the difficulties for the mechanical conversion from high Zand woods found near, Manaus, as well as the impossibility of chemical conversion the production of pulp and furfural.

The characterists of the woods found In the Distrito Agropecuário show that it is the best suited for making charcoal.

Mentioned is the process for making charcoal it. Quality is characterized by considering the properties: Moisture content, ashy volative matter, fixed carbon, bulk density, bulk density pulverised, gross calorific value, friability and porosity.

The fabrication process of briquettes is described by making considerations on the characteristics of the adesive.

Compared is the quality of the charcoal against the quality of the briquettes.

The existing informations in the literature on the use of the briquette as a automotive producer gas are discussed.

Various conclusions are infered among which that charcoal and briquette could be alternative forest products for regions possessing forests and propicious ecological conditions towards the development of the cultivation of manioc such as the brazilian Amazon.
