SUMMARY
In this paper the authors describe the poisoning in poultry of the "SHAVER" breed, which caused the death of 139 five months old birds from a total of 630 units in a livestock in Manaus, Amazonas. This is the first description of the problem in the amazonian region. Cultures obtained from the rations and from necropsies made on the chickens revealed the presence of fungi belonging to the following genera: Aspergillus, Penicillium and Trichoderma.
