Gamidactylus hoplius sp. n. was collected from nasal fossae of Hoplias maiabaricus. The new species resembles Gamidactylus jaraquensis and Gamidactylus bryconis in having antennae with moveable spine distally on the third segment and terminal claw, and a pair of strong moveable lateral retrostylets on the first thoracic somite. The new species can be distinguished from its two congeners by the shape and position of the retrostylets and by the armature of the legs.
