Summary
Anatomical comparisons were made petween leaves of a diploid (clone IAN 873) and two poliploids (clones IAC 207 & 222) of Hevea brasiliensis. The two poliploids presented more sclerophylly than the diploid, as well as an increase in latex vessel diameter, with clone 207 being intermediate between the diploid and clone 222. This suggests a diferent ploidy level between the two polyploids. It is here suggested that the poliploids will be more resistant to drought than the diploid and will have a higher productivity.
