The aim of this research was to study the knowledge of the pupils (5th grade/ primary school) in public schools at Manaus, State of Amazonas, Brazil, about the Amazonian forest and its resources. The interviews were carried out in 14 public schools, using a questionary with open questions, ten pupils of each school were interviewed, making a total of 140 pupils at the end of the study. The results showed the need to intensify the themes about the Amazon region in the school curricula.
