Diagnóstico da realidade alimentar e nutricional do Estado do Amazonas, 1978

ABSTRACT

An analysis of the food and nutrition situation in the state of Amazonas is made based on health statistics, types of malnutrition, dietary patterns, food consumption and production in the region. It is concluded that the sanitary situation of the population is precarious. The frequency of gastro-intestinal deseases is high, associated with pem and anemia. The diet is deficient in Vitamins A and B, principaly due to low vegetable consumption. Food production is stagnant with imports rising. These conclusions are discussed and recomendations made.
