Diversidade e regeneração da capoeira do INPA, com referência especial às Bignoniaceae

Abstract

Vegetational sampling of 1000 m2 of the INPA capoeira near Manaus was undertaken in connection with an ecological study of the capoeira Bignoniaceae. Bignoniaceae and some other plant families show basically the same patterns of diversity and species composition as mature forest vegetation but certain other families seem notably under-represented. Many of the basically mature forest plant species in the capoeira represent regeneration from stump sprouts and It is suggested that such well-represented families as Bignoniaceae and Lecythidaceae may be intrinsically better at stump sprout regeneration than such other families as Chrysobalanaceae and Sapotaceae.
