Estudo de Mirmecodomáceos em algumas espécies de Boraginaceae, Chrysobalanaceae, Melastomataceae e Rubiaceae

Summary

In this paper, we tried to test some hypothesis on the association of "plants-ants" (Myrmecophytes), in species of Boraginaceae (Cordia nodosa Lam.), Chrysobalanaceae (Hirtella duckei Hub.), Melastomataceae (Tococa coronata Benth. and Maieta guianensis Aublet) and Rubiaceae (Duroia saccifera Hook.) that occur In the Reserva Biológica de Campina, INPA/SUFRAMA — Km 60/2, Manaus-Caracaraí Road. For this study we collected the plant material and separated the myrmecodomatia (ant gland) for counting and identification of the ants. We also collected data on the habit and habitat of the plants, the position and size of the myrmecodomatia. external temperature (ambient) and internal (myrmecodomatia), and the variation in the number of ants sheltered. The ant species found were: Allomerus sp., Azteca sp. (I and II), Pseudomyrmex sp. (queen ant) and Solenopsls sp.
