Summary
The soil and litter beetle fauna of Reserva Ducke near Manaus was studied by taking weekly samples during a 19 week period from September to January., Eighteen families were collected, although four families (Pselaphidae, Staphylinidae, Scydmaenidae and Scolyti-dae) accounted for 88% of the catches. Of these four families, only Scydmaenidae showed a significant (at the 95% confidence level) increase in population size during this interval.
