Measurements of hourly rainfall were made with an automatic weather station in ABRACOS Project sites of pasture and forest in the Amazonia rainforest between 1992-1995 in the rainy season (jan/feb/mar). Daily variability of rainfall higher than 1mm h-1 showed a relative frequency of 6.7% at 14 local time (LT) on the pasture site, and 5.7% at 16 LT to the forest. The afternoon period (13-18 LT) registered above 30% of rainfall events in the forest and pasture To rainfall higher than 10mm h-1, there is an evening concentration, 12.3% of events in the pastureland, and 11.5% on the forest occurred at 18 LT. The period between 7-18 LT concentrate 64.9% of events on the pastureland and 57.7% on the forest. Of the total rainfall events, 14% are higher than 10 mm h-1, in the both sites. The comparison of the total rainfall measured in sites showed on average values 28% higher on the forest than pasture.
