Lake Bonita is located in the northeast part of the Federal District, and has a surface area of approximately 120ha. A detailed study of 101 samples collected between January 1984 and January 1985 showed the presence of 21 species of Nostocophyceae, representing five families (Chroococcaceae, Stigonemataceae, Scytonemataceae, Rivulariaceae and Nostoccaceae). Of these species, six are new citations (records) for Brazil and 12 for the Federal District. The family with the most species (16) was Chroococcaceae.
