During the period from December/1994 to September/1995, collecting trips were carried out in the "Parque Nacional de Sete Cidades" (4º5' and 4º15'S, 41º30' and 41º40'W, 450m alt.), Piauí State, Brazil, in order to collect species of Stemonitales (Myxomycetes). Sixty specimens were collected being assigned to one family, three genera and 15 species of Stemonitales, all of which being recorded for the first time in Piauí State : Stemonitis flavogenita Jahn, S. fusca Roth, S. nigrescens Rex , S. pallida Wing., S. smithii Macbr., Stemonitis splendens Rost., S. cf. virginiensis Rex, Macbrideola martinii (Alexop. & Beneke) Alexop., Comatricha dictyospora Celak. f., C. elegans (Racib.) G. Lister, Comatricha laxa Rost., C. longa Peck, C. cf. meandrispora Castillo, Moreno & Illana, C. pulchella (C. Bab.) Rost., and C. thyphoides (Bull.) Rost. Descriptions and geographical distribution of all these species were included. C. dictyospora and M. martinii were recorded for the first time in Brazil.
