Attaining goals

It is a great pleasure to announce the launching of the new site of the Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia (www.anaisdedermatologia.org.br) with unrestricted access. The three issues of 2005 are already available in the site with full-text articles in Portuguese and English. The site has a search system by keywords and authors. For immediate bibliographic search just click on the text on the corresponding reference superscript number; so far, the search is limited to the articles available. Gradually all the scientific collection of the Anais will be integrated to the search system, as from its first publication in 1925. Hence, this will facilitate consulting this huge armamentarium of works, comprising the maximum essence of the dermatological scientific production in Brazil. Moreover, we expect to encourage their citation in the new articles submitted for publication in this or in any other journal. In the near future, the process of all works sent to the Anais, from submission to approval, will be fully on line in the site.

The Symposium of the Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia will be held during the 60th Brazilian Congress of Dermatology, in Brasília, and is totally supported and sponsored by the Organizing Committee of this event. Directed to all authors interested in publishing their studies, as well as to the body of peer reviewers of the Anais, this symposium aims to discuss relevant issues related to scientific publication, and to address common difficulties found in preparing articles and in the publication process. We believe it is a unique learning opportunity; therefore, we prepared a program with topics of interest and invited well-known and qualified lecturers. Your attendance is welcome and essential for a successful symposium.

The Course in Scientific Methodology, which was previously organized by the Anais, will also be held in the Brazilian Congress of Dermatology. This course will address fundamental items, such as "Evidences Search", exploring other options besides the Cochrane Library; discussion on "Software for Statistical Analysis" and, discussion on "Investigation / Research Designs", with an emphasis on the more appropriate type of research for the question or objective formulated. In addition, two topics that are closely related to the Anais and other scientific journals will be approached: "How to improve the chances of publishing", providing orientations, suggestions and encouragement to those who write scientific papers; as well as the presentation and discussion of the "National Library Report" regarding the last submission of the Anais for indexing. The link of this matter with the Course results from the close association between quality of investigation and quality of the scientific specialty journal.

In 2004, the Anais established awards, which are sponsored by the SBD, for the best works published during the year, in order to enhance the scientific quality of the articles (see Editorial, volume 79, issue 3). The award was judged by the Editors and we are pleased to announce the winners:

Undoubtedly, these initiatives demonstrate the effort and dedication of the whole team of the Anais and of the SBD Board to attain the goals established as priority, as well as to increasingly value our scientific publication.
