Transexualismo masculino

Male transsexualism is a condition involving the cooperation of multiple specialists for diagnosis and treatment. Correct diagnosis is crucial once the surgical treatment is irreversible and if mistaken can lead to suicide. Diagnostic cues are essentially clinical and a test period of two years is recommended before surgery. During this period psychotherapy and antiandrogen and estrogen prescriptions are made to achieve secondary sexual characters adequacy. In this review article the concepts required for good practice in transsexualism are discussed as well as the therapeutic options available.
