SUMMARY
The reprodutibility of measurements obtained in differents Goldmann Applanation Tonometer were studied in 31 volunteers divided in two groups according with the intraocular pressure.
The first group had their pressure measurement obtained in 4 differents tonometers and the second one in 5 differents tonometers. Comparison of the measurements obtained on the same eye in differents tonometers showed that 50% of measurements differed more than 3 mmHg and the largest difference was 7 mmHg. The results of two tonometers were significantly different from the others and this was in agreement with the fact that they were not calibrated. Applanation tonometer calibration is important and should be checked every 2 months or sooner with regular use.
