SUMMARY
Pterygium excision was complicated by scleral necrosis and uveal exposition in four eye of three patients who had received postoperative beta-irradiation. They emphasize that a scleral patch is a valid therapeutic aproach to cover the wound. The kind of treatment plays an important role in avoiding bacterial corneoscleritis and endophthalmitis with would cause serious damage even when agressively treated.
