Bilateral hypermetropic amblyopia

SUMMARY

A group of 50 hyperopic patients with or more than 4.00 diopters was studied. Twelve were considered to have bilateral amblyopia and showed visual acuity of 20/40 or worse with best optical correction. They were treated only with prescription of glasses.

Half of the amblyopic patients had inicial visual acuity of 20/100 or worse, and reached final acuity ranging between 20/20 to 20/100.

The amount of hyperopia and the age when optical treatment was started interfered in the final visual acuity.
