Glaucoma and aniridia: preliminary experience obtained with four eyes treated surgically with the modified Schocket implant.

SUMMARY

Four eyes of 2 individuals with glaucoma associated with aniridia underwent a surgical treatment with a modified Schocket implant.

One of the patients was 1 month old and the other was 6 years old.

The first patient' s intraocular pressure was 30 and 34 mmHg respectively in the right and left eye. After the surgery, intraocular pressure kept around 16 mmHg, in both eyes, without any drug, with follow­up of 13 and 12 months, respectively. In the second patient, pre-operative intraocular pressure was

42 mmHg in both eyes, with medication. Post-operative intraocular pressure remained after follow-up of 10 months (right eye) and 7 months (left eye) at 20 mmHg with medication.

The modified Schocket implant may be wothwhile for treatment of refractory glaucomas.
