Tissue plasminogen activator in ophthalmology: cases report.

SUMMARY

This paper presents and discusses ten patients that developed anterior chamber fibrin clot. In all cases 25µg of rt-PA was injected in the anterior chamber with the objective of degrade the fibrin network and or improve the hyphema clearence as well as degrade the fibrin around the subretinal neovascular membrane.

Seven of the 10 patients showed a clinical improvement with permanent disappearence of the fibrin in 24 hours.

Timing of administration and the fibrin network clinical characteristics were the best parameters to achieve a good fibrinolytic result. No effects on sistemic haemostasia was clinicaly noticed. The anterior chamber injection of rt-PA showed to be efficient and without side effects.
