SUMMARY
The authors analyse the effects of hypertonic sucrose solutions at 240% and at 120% on corneal ulcers infected by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in rabbit eyes. The results obtained show that hypertonic sucrose solutions are ineffective against infected corneal ulcers. Repeated instillation of a saline solution in these infected corneal ulcers caused a reduction of the bacterial counting, probably by means of a mechanical rinsing effect.
