Acquired ocular toxoplasmosis

SUMMARY

The author presents a series of three patients with posterior uveitis, presumably by acquired toxoplasmosis. Ocular examination revealed bilateral retinochoroiditis in two women and unilateral in one man.

Immunofluorescence for toxoplasmosis in all patients demonstrated initially positive IgG and IgM titers, the latter confirmed by ELISA. After appropriate treatment, the ocular lesions regressed; the IgG titers for toxoplasmosis fell and IgM titers became negative.
