Ocular ischemic syndrome: case report

SUMMARY

Ocular signs and symptoms secundary to severe common or internal carotid artery occlusion are named OIS. This is usually unilateral, occurs in patients over 50 years of age and is frequently associated with sistemic diseases and a high mortality rate. We describe herein a case of OIS and analyze its clinical manifestations and findings of fluorescein angiography, carotid duplex Doppler, carotid magnetic ressonance, ERG and EOG. We also discuss the diferencial diagnosis and the manage-ment of this syndrome wich is poorly reported in our literature.
