SUMMARY
The authors studied 20 eyes submitted to keratoplasty "a chaud regarding indications, visual acuity, complications and clinicai cure. Infectious keratitis was the major indication cause - 11 eyes (55%). In only one case occured recurrence of the patology which indicated transplant (fungal keratitis). The main complication was the ahsence of clear graft. We also observed glaucoma, cataract, synechiae formation and inflammatory pupilar membrane among other complications. In 95% of the cases the final visual acuity was below 0.1. We concluded that keratoplasty "a chaud" achieves good results regar ding the disease erradication, but another surgery is necessary to re-establish visual acuity.
