Method for evaluating the quality of construction processes in social interest housing projects

The difficulties of controlling, maintaining and improving the quality of construction processes have been pointed out in several studies, despite the dissemination of the certification of quality management systems in Brazil. In the case of the social interest housing subsector, construction companies operate in a context of high level of activities and limited profit margins, which demands the quality of processes to be controlled in order to avoid waste. This research work proposes a method for assessing quality of construction processes in terms of conformance in social interest housing projects. The processes that most affect the quality of housing projects were identified based on the literature, on the perception of experts, and on complaints from users. The data obtained results in a set of quality indicators related to the conformance of construction processes. The main contribution of this investigation is the proposed method, and the indicators of process compliance obtained during its implementation. Data were collected in projects from the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, and from Caxias do Sul, and Pelotas, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
