Abstract:
The paper discusses the non-explicit relation between the fundamental concept (Grundbegriff) of psychoanalysis, the unconscious (das Unbewusste), and desire. Despite its crucial importance regarding the establishment of psychoanalysis as a conceptual field, its very foundation is due to Freud’s desire. The bond between desire and the fundamental concept leads to its ethical consequences, as indicated by Lacan (1964).
