Abstract:
This work investigates a psychoanalytic listening of the family of children diagnosed with autism. The article presents the theoretical premises of the family clinic, followed by the clinical case and the case discussion. It is a family composed of the parental couple, the teenage son, and Ícaro, three years old, diagnosed with autism. The family experienced many losses, presenting a melancholic affective tone and establishing a particular relationship with the diagnoses. The psychoanalytic listening allows us to access the possible psychic function that the diagnosis can assume, in this specific case, a defensive barrier to suffering the losses experienced by the family.
