Abstract:
The child between the subject and object. Based on clinical work with children, we will discuss the two aspects a child takes on for the primordial Other: subject and object. For the mother, the child occupies the position of the object that condenses jouissance, as Freud noticed when he identified motherhood as the site of female perversion. However, at the same time, the mother also "supposes a subject" in the child, in so far as she assumes that she receives a sign from him.
