Abstract:
From the writings of Freud, Ogden, Leader, Ricœur, and a Sao Bernardo’s analysis, we propound some characteristics of a melancholic autobiography: it is a literary form of self-loathing; of privacy; and that is not the outcome of a remembrance work, but of a compulsion to repetition. We then compare the writing of Infancia and Sao Bernardo, particularly concerning sonant images, ideas and attitudes, and a relationship between parents and children. Finally, we argue that the melancholy structure is a power and not a creative limit.
