EVALUATION OF BIOLOGICAL CONTROL OF MAHANARVA FIMBRIOLATA (HOM., CERCOPIDAE) WITH FUNGUS METARHIZIUM ANISOPLIAE IN VARIETIES OF SUGARCANE AND DIFFERENT HARVEST TIME

ABSTRACTS

The biological control of the Mahanarva fimbriolata was evaluated with the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae and the relationship between varieties and harvest time was assessed. The experiment was conducted at Usina Bonfim, Grupo Corona, in Guariba City. The experimental design was in blocks with fifteen varieties, three crop times and application of 1 kg of rice with M. anisopliae isolate IBCB 10 (3 applications: November, December and January) and Control. The number of nymphs per linear meter was counted in November, December, January, February and March. The appraised varieties were: IAC 873396, RB 84 5257, SP 701816, RB 835486, RB 825336, IAC 862210, RB 855536, RB 855113, RB 855453, SP 803321, SP80 1842, RB 855156, RB 855546, RB 825002 and IAC 82 2045. The times of mechanized harvest of each block were: May, July and October. It was verified that the number of nymphs in the area was low; and there was no difference in the biological control nor in the number of nymphs in regand to harvest time. The pest attack began harvest of May and July and the most attractive varieties were: RB 855546, SP 803321, SP 70 1816, RB 825336, IAC 822045, SP 801842 and RB 845257.
