PREVALENCE OF BOVINE BRUCELLOSIS IN THE BOTUCATU MOUNTAINS MICROREGION - COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE RESULTS OF THE TECHNIQUES OF SLOW AGGLUTINATION IN TUBES, 2-MERCAPTOETHANOL AND COMPLEMENT FIXATION

ABSTRACT

The prevalence of bovine brucellosis in the microregion of Botucatu was evaluated. Sera from 1,789 bovine belonging to 96 herds were collected and submitted to Rose Bengal Plate Test (ATA), Tube Aglutination Test (SAT), 2-Mercapthoetanol Test (2-ME) and Complement Fixation Test (RFC). The regional prevalence was characterized as 3.6%, it must be emphasized that 42.7% of herds had at least one positive animal. The statistical analysis of the obtained results characterized moderate agreement of SAT with RFC, while the ATA and 2-ME presented perfect agreement with RFC.
